Great food! Great prices! Great people! I love this restaurant. They are always nice, quick service I recently had La Costa I think it's called And let's just say that was a big mistake for sure. They don't even come close to you guys!

We stopped here for a quick lunch after our fun on the Dunes. They must be doing something right because I got the last parking spot. I had a carne asada dish that was great. Service was quick and friendly. Our bill was under $20 for two. Not a bad deal. Its a few blocks off the beaten path, but a decent place to grab a bite.

We have eaten at La Herradura many times. Unfortunately, I can no longer say it is good. Stopped in for lunch yesterday. The service was off. The meal was horrible. I worked on a farm in the San Joaquin Valley. I know good Mexican good. This wasn't even close. We paid the bill, never to return. Adios horseshoe!!

I recently moved to San Diego and have tried many "authentic" Mexican restaurants and I have to say none even come close to La Herradura. They have the most mouthwatering Mexican food I have ever tasted! The place may look a little shabby on the outside but don't judge a book by its cover. They staff are so kind and make you feel at home. I would eat there everyday if I could.

    (5)
  • Rob T.

Delicious food and great service! I had the chimichanga yesterday and it was superb! My husband ordered the chicken fajitas and it came to the table sizzling hot and he said it was very very good. Portion sizes are LARGE so come hungry. Can't wait to go again for dinner!

  • Coastal G.

We gave this place another try and to my surprise the service was great ! The food has always been good but in the past the lack of good service kept us from coming back. Their pollo ala crema is very good so are the beef or chicken fajitas.

    (4)
  • Denise V.

Yuck yuck yuck. Chicken fajitas similar to cardboard. Dry rice and tasteless beans. Service was also horrible. Put your phony smile away and remember just cause we don't look like we understand Spanish don't under estimate us

  • Christine D.

I've tried just about every mexican restaurant in town and this is by far the best. He gets either the burritos or chimichangas and I always get the chile relano/enchilada combo and it never fails to exceed our expectations and fill our tummys. It is conveniently located next to the movie theatre and mall, therefore it's a frequent stop for us.

  • Michelle B.

We are from SoCal traveling back from Oregon by RV. Craving Mexican food , we stopped here. It really hit the spot!! The service was great and the food was exactly what we wanted. I had the enchilada and chile rellenos combo plate and my friend had camarón envuelto en tocino (shrimp wrapped in bacon). Portions were huge and everything was soooo yummy. Will definitely stop there again if we are in town.

    (5)
  • Kim M.

The food is legit. I live in Southern California so I know what good Mexican food is. The portions are enormous and the service is great. I had a combination plate with an enchilada and chalupa. Not sure chalupas are "authentic" but who cares? They're delicious! The prawn fajitas were sizzling and savory and the kids plates could feed a grown-ass adult.

    (5)
  • Chris W.

My mom took me here on out last trip down to Coos Bay and she said this was the best Mexican food in town and while I have to agree with her it's not because it the best you'll ever have or because it's on my top 25 Mexican restaurants to visit but simply cause there isn't much to choose from in this town. If you like a place like mazatlan or another chain type Mexican food place this will be fine for you but if you want something a little more authentic I'd wait till you got somewhere else. That said the food is fine. The prices are okay but by no means a deal of any sort.

    (4)
  • Justin W.

Tastes like mexican angels are dancing in my mouth. With a rebel yell, I cried "more, more, more"

    (5)
  • L L.

I am glad that so many people find this place so great, but my experiences there have NEVER been good. It's not so much that the food is bad, it's alright, and I appreciate the fact that they have real chile rellanos and not a crappy little chile wrapped in an omelette. But the service stinks! In fact they seem pretty rude. And you can just forget about getting refills on water. If you want to eat here, do yourself a favor and bring your own bottle of water. And if we dare ask for salsa and chip refills... man, you should see the dirty looks we get from the servers. So all in all, the food is decent enough and they do give nice big portions, but they need to get rid of everybody that works there and hire all new staff that appreciates people spending their money there.

    (2)
  • William E.

Ive been here many times since the last review. Like the Chicken Mole and the Campechana. Ask for extra sauce and tortillas if you get the mole! The place is always busy and parking is abundant...

    (5)
  • Ireland G.

Okay, so the food is good and the service is fine. But the food isn't authentic. I mean, they put lettuce on their tacos. I just wish they would make it less 'gringonized'(?). Other than that everything's good.

    (4)
  • Jil S.

came here for lunch. My food was good but the service was very slow. Overall I guess it didn't get me that excited, because I really don't have any desire to return.

My favorite place for Mexican food in Coos bay. The food here is great and the service is great too. Go here for lunch or dinner and you wont be disappointed.

My plane, which had been scheduled to arrive around lunch time, was delayed by a couple of hours so by the time I landed I was cranky and really hungry. I'm generally pretty skeptical of eating Mexican food in states that don't touch Mexico, but I was so hungry it didn't matter. What a pleasant suprise! The chips were homemade and still hot, and were some of the best I've ever had. I got beef enchiladas which had just the right amount of spice and cheese, and weren't too greasy. The portions were huge, the service was fast (which was a life saver for me) and the prices extremely reasonable. For $6.25 I got a huge, delicious lunch that I couldn't finish. In San Francisco, $6.25 get's you a beer, maybe. I will definitely be back.

    (5)
  • Ashley F.

This is definitely my favorite Mexican place in town! I absolutely love the food and service! I've been there twice now, and both times we had great service and the food was awesome. The food was authentic and full of flavor, I was vey impressed with it.

    (5)
  • Kate S.

New in town and chose this place based on the Yelp review. Was less than impressed. The waitress seemed annoyed that we were there. She did not come back to check on us or see if we needed refills until almost the end of our meal and the place was not busy at all. The food was ok, but I have definitely had better. My daughter got a beef soft taco and it smelled exactly like Manwich sloppy joe from the can. Not impressed.

    (2)
  • Julia R.

La Herradura is my favorite mexican restaurant in Coos Bay. Very good salsa and chips (a regular salsa and a cabbage salsa), consistently good food at good prices, and the service is fast and friendly. I never leave hungry and I always end up with a to go box in hand. This restaurant is small and out of the way, but is almost always fairly full of people. It is clean with nice murals and carved wooden booths; nice to check out while you enjoy the salsa and chips. It can get a little loud, but I have never had a problem with that. I like the chicken burrito and chicken mole here a lot. In fact, I usually get the children's chicken burrito meal, which has the perfect portion size for me. Add to that a great raspberry margarita on the rocks with cuervo gold and a sugar rim and I am a happy camper. My only complaint would be that I wish they would give you more tortillas with the mole, and the shredded chicken could use more spice.

    (4)
  • Trina W.

The best Mexican food in the Coos Bay/ North Bend area. Prices are very reasonable for the generous portions and delectable food. They have the best chicken fajitas and cheese enchiladas. They serve fish bowl sized long island ice teas that my husband and I usually share because they're so huge! Their coconut margaritas are also delicious!! One of my fav spots!

    (5)
  • Deenu P.

This is a great place!! We found it on Yelp, and were so impressed. The food portions were enormous. Guacamole was very creamy, and the strawberry lemonade was made with fresh strawberries. Great chips, fantastic fresh salsa. We came starving, and left absolutely stuffed, without even finishing everything on the plate. Easy to share the combos for sure if you have a normal appetite. For you gastrohogs, one will prove to fill you up. Will definitely stop here again on our next road trip.

    (5)
  • Roland B.

We had a great meal here. My wife had chicken enchiladas, and I had Puerco Pibil. Both dishes were very good. The Pibil was a touch on the sweet side, but delicious nonetheless. Our server & hostess were both very nice. The only downside, no horchata. :-( But, the house sangria sufficed most admirably. We will definitely be back here again whenever we pass through.

Best in town by far. I don't and wont go any where else. Apollo da cream is my favorite!

  • R.A. P.

Comparing this place to Puerto Vallerta sees this place serving pretty much the same food (which is excellent for both) but the spice level goes from mild to moderate. One thing this place served that was new to me was a small cup of what appeared to be a coleslaw but it's spicy warm and delicious! It came with the chips but if you save it to use with your tacos or perhaps other items, you'll find it really explodes your taste buds in a very good way. The lunch platter had a decent amount of food to eat and it was only $5.75, so if you're looking for a full meal deal, this is a good place to go cost--wise. Service is friendly and the food was served in timely fashion despite it being the later part of the lunch hour. Interior decor is quite extensive and you'll appreciate what the owner or owners have done to make the place as attractive as the food is good.

    (5)
  • Donna F.

a Herradura is the best Mexican restaurant by far in this area. I have been eating here since they opened and have never had a bad meal. Everything is fresh and flavorful. The service is great and the prices are competitive.

    (5)
  • Elizabeth S.

Loud place. Watered down Margaritas (very watered down). The Congrejo enchiladas don't come with Dungeness crab alone...there is some other, non-descript filler. The tamales are mostly masa and little meat. This is a perfect example of MAS FOOD does not equal GOOD FOOD. I realize it is pretty far north for real Mexican food but if you need to eat in Coos Bay/North Bend, do fast food. At least you know what your are getting. Many thanks to the reader who corrected my poor Spanish (Congrejo). I am sure you meant to be friendly.

    (1)
  • Brent L.

I had the carne asada, which was great! Good place for Mexican food.

    (4)
  • Dan P.

Not my top Mexican restaurant in the area, but easily second best. Usually pretty busy, and usually good quality food, but quality dives when they are backed up.

    (3)
  • Maurice P.

Because of Yelp we found this very nice, authentic Mexican Restaurant. The chips and salsa were excellent. I asked if they had any hotter salsa and the waitress made some for me. Very good food with efficient service.

    (4)
  • Erin J.

We have eaten at every Mexican Restaurant in Coos County and this is by far the best one. Their Fajitas Mixtas is EXCELLENT! It has fresh halibut and big, delicious shrimp in the fajitas and they are incredible. We eat here almost every Friday night and the service is always very, very good. They are very warm and inviting and their prices are excellent.

    (5)
  • Joey L.

For our family's taste bud, the food felt greasy and salty. We like the service and the ambiance though.

If you're from out of the area (like me) you'll have to search to find this place, but it is well worth it. I stopped for a late lunch, and with the generous portions served it ended up being my dinner too. I thought that I waited for the food longer than necessary, but once it arrived everything on the plate appeared to be made from scratch and was delicious. I plan to visit again on each trip through North Bend. Five stars.

Good food, good value, good service, all in a casual family-friendly atmosphere. Have not been disappointed yet, but I especially recommend the chicken mole.

I LOVE this place. My guy & I feel wrong going to any other Mexican place these days, since none of them compare. He's from the east coast, and truly thought all Mexican restaurants were the same until we went here. His favorite is the steak & fajitas, and though I don't eat beef I will say it looks and smells out of this world. My favorite is the Super Burrito without the meat. It's more than enough to take home half for lunch the next day. Another favorite of mine is the crab & mushroom enchiladas, which are perfect for the evenings when calories aren't on my mind as much. And, I love the fact that I can go here frequently without going broke. If I had to offer a con about this place, it would be that their little salsa bowls aren't big enough. No matter who I go with, we *always* run out of salsa long before the chips. Usually they don't notice you're low until the chips are gone, so you have to ask specifically if you want more salsa (which is really good and perhaps why it goes so fast) Oh, and their Long Islands? Will sit you flat :D ... Very tasty all around ~ I can't recommend this place enough!

Good food, but portions were huge. The wife and I could easily have split a burrito which was literally a foot long. We were greeted with chips and salsa - I had to stop myself from filling up on those alone because they were so good. 4 stars for portioning alone.

    (4)

Great place. Yummy, big portions, friendly staff. Would definitely eat there again. Recommend the chicken mole and deluxe burritos.
